Re-Keying an Godaddy.com SSL Certificate

The “Re-keying”  process is replacing an existing Godaddy SSL certificate.  Are you moving your ssl certificate to a new server? Or maybe your server crashed on you.  Did you lose your private key or maybe you just want to rekey your Godaddy.com SSL Certificate. Then follow the instructions below.

To Re-key an SSL Certificate

  1. Log in to your account and goto your MY PRODUCTS section either in your Godaddy account.
  2. In the My Products section, select SSL Certificates.
  3. Next to the ssl certificate you are working on, click on Manage Certificate.
  4. When the next page loads, click Certificates and then click the common name for the certificate you want to re-key.
  5. Copy the certificate details shown on the screen and use that exact data when creating a new CSR. Exact capitalization, punctuation and spacing are required. For Standard (Medium Assurance) certificates the CSR details for City, State and Country are not critical.
  6. Generate a new CSR.

  8. After your CSR is created, then go back to the Certificate Manager area. In the screen where you copied your certificate details, click Re-Key.
  9. The paste your server-generated CSR in the CSR field and click Re-Key.
  10. You need to select your server type. Then click the link to download the newly re-keyed certificate.
  11. If you need a copy of the intermediate certificate, click Repository in the upper-right corner.
  12. Install the re-keyed certificate on your Web server. If you need help with this click here
