Posted on July 10, 2011 by GDtutoradmin

This tutorial shows you how to set up Microsoft Outlook Express® to work with your IMAP or POP email account.

One thing to note is that if you just created your email at Godaddy, it can take a full hour to setup on their end. Here are the instructions for getting your Godaddy email to work with your Outlook Express 2003.

  1. In Microsoft Outlook Express, select Tools, and then click Accounts.
  2. On the Internet Accounts window, click the Mail tab, and then click Add.
  3. On the Internet Connect Wizard window, in the Display name field, enter the name to be be displayed on your email, and then click Next.
  4. In the E-mail address field, enter your email address, and then click Next.
  5. On the E-mail Server Names window, from the My incoming mail server is a list, select either IMAP or POP3.
  6. In the Incoming mail (POP3 IMAP or HTTP) server field type:

IMAP – imap.secureserver.net

POP – pop.secureserver.net

7) In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, type smtpout.secureserver.net, and then click Next.

8) In the Account name and Password fields, enter your email address and password, and then click Next.

9 )Click Finish.

10) On the Internet Accounts wizard, select the account you just created, and then click Properties.

11) In the Properties window, click the Servers tab, and then select My server requires authentication.

12 Click the Advanced tab.

Outgoing Server Settings

Port

Without SSL – One of the following: 80,25, 3535

With SSL – 465

(Optional) This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)

Select to enable.

Personal Recommendation: Don’t use SSL!

Incoming Server Settings

Port

IMAP without SSL – 143

IMAP with SSL – 993

POP without SSL – 110

For POP with SSL – 995

(Optional) This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)

Select to enable.

Select to enable.

Personal Recommendation: Don’t use SSL!

13 Click OK.

Troubleshooting notes: Usually if when you test your email and you can receive but not send, then usually it is the outgoing port. I would recommend first trying 80. Then test it. If problems, then try setting it to 25. Then test it again. If that doesn’t work either try 3535.

Another main issue that a lot of people make the mistake on is that your username in first few steps needs to be your “email address”. The full email address. Many people think they just need to put only the first page of their godaddy email address. This is untrue.

If you are still stuck, then call Godaddy at the number on their homepage.
